Haakaa

I actually have real trouble with normal breast pumps and I have really tried them all. When the baby arrived prematurely and was in the hospital for 2 weeks I was told the very best thing was to hire a hospital grade pump and it was the best advice ever. I was fairly determined to keep pumping so that he would at least have some of my milk/colostrum and I didn’t want to dry up.

We hired the Medela pump and it was £50 for the month and I can say it was 100% worth it. They ship it to you ready to go and you keep the plastic boob covers when you’re done and then ship it back to them. Simple as that. I hired this one for anyone interested.

Then when I was home I wanted to keep pumping a bit to have an emergency stash and I struggled to find a good pump. I was given the Evie to try which is good because you can actually do stuff and get on with your life. It just goes in to your bra. If you are working and/or want to be able to actually move around while pumping this is for you.

But I think the best one for me is the medela double breast pump. You have to buy a silly bra thing but it’s probably a good investment anyway. Especially if you plan on trying to breast feed for a while. (I’m thinking a year if I can).

But… I found that HANDS down the best investment and the most efficient pump/milk catcher ever is the Haakkaa.

It is brilliant. You simply slap it on the other boob when your baby is latched on and it has a continual suction situation so it just draws all the milk from the other boob. It’s a GAME CHANGER.

I ordered a bunch of medela freezer bags and voila. That’s my milk freezing situation. This works really well and honestly this is the best tip.
